Black Hat USA 2025 Wrap-Up

It’s been a little over a week since Black Hat in Las Vegas, and what a whirlwind it was! Each morning at Black Hat USA 2025, as the doors to the Business Hall swung open, attendees were greeted by the usual razzle-dazzle of cybersecurity’s biggest names with some incredible booth setups. But one had to venture deeper into the exhibit floor to feel the raw energy of Startup City—a buzzing hub where new, exciting ideas collide. It’s precisely in this incubator of innovation that Keep Aware took center stage, offering real-time, browser-native protection amid a sea of emerging technologies shaping the industry’s next wave.

As a Black Hat Startup Spotlight finalist, we were fortunate to participate in a variety of talks and events at the show.

Innovators and Investors Summit

At the Innovators and Investors Summit, industry veteran and Startup Spotlight emcee Caleb Sima guided a lively discussion featuring the 2025 Black Hat USA Startup Spotlight Final Four: FireTail, Keep Aware, Prime Security, and Twine Security. Each finalist shared how they’re tackling today’s most urgent cybersecurity challenges, offering unique perspectives before fielding engaging questions from an eager audience.

Keep Aware’s Severance-Inspired Booth

At Black Hat, the Keep Aware team debuted a playful Severance-inspired theme that had been in the works for some time. Our tagline — “Browser Security That’s Not a Black Box” — nodded to the lack of visibility on Lumen’s mysterious Macrodata Refinement floor, drawing a parallel to how browsers often remain opaque yet critically important. The booth experience served as a reminder that the browser, like the show’s enigmatic setting, deserves attention and protection. We brought the theme to life with clever swag, including finger traps and our own book, The URL You Are: State of Browser Security Report. While our Black Hat ‘innies’ fielded tough browser security questions on the show floor, our Vegas ‘outies’ made the most of the parties and good times beyond the Business Hall.

Securing Every Browser as the New Enterprise Endpoint: From Employee Clicks to AI Actions

Keep Aware CEO Ryan Boerner took the stage to explain why the browser is now the new endpoint. He highlighted how browser-native detection and response (BDR) closes critical security gaps, delivering real-time protection against threats targeting today’s workforce—no matter which browser they use. The session sparked strong interest and interaction from the audience.

Black Hat Startup Spotlight Competition

The Black Hat Startup Spotlight Competition is a fast-paced pitch event highlighting emerging leaders in cybersecurity. As one of the finalists, CEO Ryan Boerner delivered a rapid-fire overview of Keep Aware’s solution and its benefits, followed by a lively Q&A with the audience. We’re proud to have shared the stage with such innovative startups and extend our congratulations to Prime Security for taking home the win.

Final Thoughts

Overall, the Keep Aware team was thrilled to be among the 425+ exhibitors at Black Hat and is still riding the excitement of our finalist nomination in the Startup Spotlight Competition. From global enterprise security leaders to agile, forward-thinking startups, the event gave attendees a firsthand look at the innovations shaping the future of cybersecurity.
